We want this to be a fun event for everyone. Please read all the info and get familiar with the Strava app. You will be glad you did!

See the Home Page and click the Segment Rules & Details button for specifics on each event segment. Details include course maps and requirements for that segment.

Those participating in the Bordulacky Attacky may submit their times via the Strava app OR by screenshot using whichever timing app they choose.

Send finish screens to info@bordulacattack with this info:

  1. Racer/Family Name.

  2. Name of segment finished and date.

  3. Screenshot of your finish time for that segment.

    • Family teams will submit a group time for each segment completed. Hit stop on the timer when each member of your group has reached the finish marker.

We suggest you download the free Strava app and make it simple. All of our maps and race segments are there!

Competitive Track Rules & Info

  1. Download the Strava App on your phone. (Free)

EACH RACER MUST HAVE STRAVA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITIVE BORDULAC ATTACK.

  • Strava is required to access the six different stage segment maps.

  • Follow the Bordulac Attack on Strava

  • You will use Strava to record your race segment times.

    • No group/partner times are allowed.

    • Team members must submit individual times from their own mobile devices.

    • You will need a subscription to view the Strava app leaderboard, but you don’t need a subscription to do the events! Having a subscription just allows you to see your name on their leaderboard.

    • The OFFICIAL LEADERBOARD is here on the Bordulac Attack website; that is the only one that counts. Make sure you follow the Bordulac Attack on Strava once you download it so we can see your results!

    • You do not need a membership on Strava to participate!

      • Those without a Strava membership or who have their Strava settings set to ‘private’ will need to email us a screenshot of their race segment screen at the finish with their results to info@bordulacattack.com.

      • If you are unsure what to send, send us two screenshots—one of your segment map and another of your timed results. We are looking for your ELAPSED TIME. This is your total time, moving, plus rest. This is the time that counts. We can’t rank you if we don’t see you!

  • We are counting TOTAL ELAPSED TIME, not moving time.

Total elapsed time is the total time you spend on the course. It includes transitions, breaks, shoe changes, selfies, peeing, and all those other little things that make you slower.

    • Do NOT stop your timer for any reason during your race. All transitions and breaks are on the clock! Your elapsed time begins when you hit ‘start’ and ends when you hit ‘finish’ at the mailbox.

  • Segment time is recorded internally by the Strava app.

Each of the six Bordulac Attack races is a GPS-mapped segment. Segments have pinned starts and finishes. The Strava app will record your time while you are doing one of the Bordulac Attack race segments, IF YOU ARE ON THE MAPPED ROUTE.

    • GPS tolerance is narrow on Strava segments. If you are fortunate enough to have your time show up on a Bordulac Attack Strava segment, you have executed a perfect route on the segment I mapped.

      • If your race time does NOT show up on a Bordulac Attack Strava race segment, no worries; it still counts. It just means that GPS couldn’t find you on the course. In this case, we use your elapsed time, which you self-record via the timer's Strava ‘start’ and ‘finish’ buttons.

      • Be on point when starting and stopping the timer!

      • IMPORTANT STRAVA APP SAFETY TIP!

Take a screenshot of your finish screen and results on the Strava app after you complete a race segment.

If there is a technical glitch with GPS and the app uploading your result, this is your insurance!

Save this screen until you see your name on the segment leaderboard here on the Bordulac Attack website. If you don’t appear, email us the screenshot to info@bordulacattack.com, and we’ll add you ASAP!

  • A simple swipe up on the bottom of the timer screen on the iPhone will leave your timer recording in the background and keep it from getting pressed on/off during your race.

  • To end your event simply press the blue rectangle in the upper left corner of your phone screen and it will take you back to the timer.

HOT TIPS:

1) Play with the Strava app BEFORE you set out on your stage race! Practice with it, and know how it works. Practice selecting your activity, starting and stopping the timer with the RECORD button, swiping off the timer screen, and then clicking back on it, to safeguard your time during the event. You will be oh so much happier if you do this.

2) Take a screenshot of your finish screen and results on the Strava app. If there is a technical glitch with the app uploading your result, this is your insurance! Save this screen until you see your name on the leaderboard for the segment. If you don’t appear, email us the screenshot to info@bordulacattack.com.

Make sure your Strava app is up to date before you race!

Teams & Group Participants

Suffering is better with friends! Rally your crew!

Not sure that the entire challenge is in your wheelhouse? Form a team of two, three or six people. Divide the work.

2-person team – each racer completes three stage race segments.
3-person team – each racer completes two stage race segments.
6-person team - each racer completes one stage race segment.

We encourage you to bring a buddy with you on your stage race. It’s also legal to have a support team staged along the route to feed you a Power Bar, provide a shoe change, snap pics of you on the overlook benches, or watch your bike when you do the dune climb. All good! Support is allowed and encouraged. It also makes the event safer if someone has an eye on you.

Winning

  • Individual winners will be declared for each stage race and determined by age and gender classification.

  • The Grand Champignon will be the racer with the fastest combined time of all six segment stage races.

  • 2, 3, and 6-person winning teams will be determined by the fastest combined times of all six segment stage races.

  • Racers may race and rerace to improve their times as often as they want until midnight on Oct 31.

Contact info@bordulacattack.com with all questions and clarification needs! Don’t hesitate to ask. You really don’t want to do the Bike segment twice if you don’t have to!

Strava App

Race anytime between June 15-Oct 31

You do not have to complete all four stage races in one day! Spread them out over the week, month, or summer. Racers can test and retest each of the four races as many times as they like before Halloween. Keep an eye on the leaderboard to see if anyone has jumped in front of you on a segment. Race times are not final until midnight on Oct 31.

Stay on course

Please. For your safety and to keep yourself race legal, read the event rules and study the maps for each stage race. Some have unique twists and unusual funsies you need to satisfy in addition to racing. Shortcuts will result in a no-rep, meaning your race will not count. Nobody wants to see you put in 30 miles on your bike just to be disqualified because you missed a turn.

Close the timing screen while racing!

Before setting out on a stage race:

1) Make sure your Strava app is up to date.

Go to your apps on your phone and click on ‘update’ if there is one so you have the best possible chance of the app working for you during your race segment.

2) Don't leave the timing screen open on your phone while racing! Doing so makes it possible for you to accidentally bump the start/stop button on the timer. Lock your screen or "swipe off" the timing screen without closing the app while racing.

Completion Track Rules & Info

For those of us who are excited to be out in nature and complete these event segments at our own pace, no timing is required! You can use Strava or not to follow the segments, but you don’t need to. A simple photo of yourself or your team at the finish of each event segment is all we need to see that you made it!

If you choose to use Strava to record your time for your own personal interest, we will not post it here on our website. For each event you complete, you will receive a digital badge identical to the event decal by your name on our board to show you did it.

Everyone who completes a segment will receive the corresponding event decal for that route!
